I've been looking into these monitors and i'm thinking about getting a pair. I know monitors are really just opinion when it comes down to it, but i wanted to see people's opinions on their room mode correction system. I am currently living in an apartment and obviously would be moving around some for the next few years which is why i think these might be the monitors for me (seeing as though i'm trying to do minimal room treatment). Any opinions or suggestions? BTW, i am able to get these for about $1,000 brand new if that makes a difference as to whether they are worth it or not.

You are going to hear a lot of opinions about this for sure, mainly from people with the ability to spend thousands to treat their rooms. I doubt any of them have even heard them. I actually have my mint pair for sale. I am going to straight video production and TV business, so I don't need them. I can tell you, they were great for me and my mixes translated great with the room correction when the Adam's I had before were hard for me to mix with. PM if interested in a great deal on a pair. Sorry if this seems to be a hijack.

I use the LSR28P's (older ones) and LOVE EM... the newer ones sound a bit different. and the old ones are BUILT like a TANK! Good for me, cause mine go it road-cases from studio to studio. I also use the 12P sub

I would not use the RMC as the reason to buy these monitors. My treated room had a similar response as an untreated room. There was a bass cut applied at about 50Hz of maybe about 2-3dB. That was it. The interesting thing is that the applied RMC equalization was pretty much the same in a treated room and an untreated room. Maybe my main room is not as well-treated as I thought. Usually I have to subtract bass on my mixes when I check them out elsewhere. The RMC process would worsen that with a 2-3db cut at that frequency. Buy the monitors because you like the way they sound. The 4238p's sound great, plenty of bass. Crisp (maybe a little too crisp) in the higher frequencies. |
