how about a good EQ plugin?

PSP Vintage Warmer and the Waves Plat Bundle work well for me. I have yet to find a EQ plugin that is even close to rivalling my my API 550B.

the massey tape head,
sonnox eq and reverb,
the massey 2007 limiter is one of the best sounding brickwall mastering limiters i've ever heard and it's only 90 bills.
bf-76 still rocks.
waves c4
always happy with anything urs
the tel-ray delay is one of my favorite delays, i like a more old school delay that has character where you turn a knob, or drag a mouse, and use your ears rather than input a value.

AC1, Phoenix, and Magneto are great. AC1 makes things "stand up" in a mix. Phoenix is great for solidifying things, and providing fullness. Magneto has a vibe and "splat" that I like.

I also like Altiverb for reverb (I'm very into capturing my own IR's), and TelRay for the vibey thing it does.

I did a mix yesterday, and I must have used at least four or five different brands of EQ plugins in the same mix. I have different preferences for different purposes, and it always depends on the demands of the track.

i'm gonna get shit for this.

the digi rack 3, gate/expander.
preset to "snare expander" i use that damn near 90 percent of the time on rock stuff, kicks, snares, even vocals.

it bring out the actual insturment but leaves the reduced volume,..almost acts as putting in a parallell compression underneath the audio.

drumagog :p
had to say it.

didirack 3 ,..7 band eq,... not the best for artifacts, i'm low on plugs and i seem to like it a whole lot.
or the logic eq...awesome.
the oxford eqs are AWESOME if i have them around.

2 others:

trackplug,..eq, compressor, gate, multiband stuff,...it allows yo to create however many bands you want and compress them all individually,..it's awesome if used properly.

t-racks mastering suite, i like the hard ass eq,...the great soft clipper, compressor is decent, and a brutal multiband limiter,..it works real well for me.

if you've got a killer cpu like a quad core or octa core, URS Channel Strip Pro could handle eq and dynamics on every channel! This thing sounds amazing. The best plugin bundle i've heard so far is the Sonnox plugins. Sonalksis are also very good. for reverbs, either altiverb, wizooverb w2 or ik multimedia csr.

On the last mix I did within Nuendo, I tried to substitute PSP MixSaturator for the AC1 I usually use when I am mixing within PT, and with some of my own custom tweaks it worked like a charm!

The presets are just about useless in every situation I have tried them in.

I've recently discovered how effective and powerful the multiband threshold and crossovers are on the limiter. It can really shape the sound of a drums buss, while boosting the overall level.

The compressor is ok, but I do like the stereo knob. I'm not completely sure what it does, it's subtle, but I think it tightened the kit. Pretty much the same with the internal sidechain. Hard to tell. Really depends on the source.

I had to force myself to stop using UAD everytime just because they're there, and use the T-Racks stuff.... and realize that it's better or more appropriate in many situations, not to mention preserving DSP.

My go to eq is the Sonnox Eq. With it's 4 diffenrend curve types , i almost always get what i want from it but i still use it mostly as a corrective EQ.

I strangly don't have a go to comp, really i don't. It always depends on the mc , the feeling i wanna get and the mood i'm in that day lol

But here's what i frequently use for dynamics

Waves API 2500, R Comp, L1/L2, SSL G comp and C1-SC
EMI TG 12413 2005 (wow)
Sonitus Comp ( on individual drums )
Sonalksis 315mkII
Sonalksis 719mkII ( wich is my go to gate )
PsP Vintage Warmer ( Almost on every drum Buss )
Focusrite D3 ( Mostly on individual drums )
Sonnox Dynamics ( mostly on instrument, not so much on vox )
Nomad Factory BT CP2S-3 and AS SC-226 ( Mostly on vox )

For EQ

Sonnox EQ
Waves API, RenQ, V serie, SSL G EQ ( to amphasis not to correct )
URS API ( when the Waves is not accurate enough )
Uniquelizer ( for corrective purpuses )
Sonitus EQ ( also for corrective purpuses )
Focusrite D2 ( my reccent discovery, very transparent )

Verbs

Princeton Digital plate 2016 and room 2016 ( a lot )
IK CSR
Wizoo verb W2
ArtAccoustics

Then all the other plus i use

Antaress Tube ( a lot )
BBE Sonic maximizer
R BAss

Visualizer from Nugen Audio
IXL bundle from Roger Nichols

PPS 42 PSP 84 ( a lot )
Super tap delays

Metaflanger and MondoMod ( a lot )
Kjaerhaus Classic plugs ( chorus, flanger, phaser, filter )
Doubler

Sonnox Inflator
Camel Crucher
Colortone free
Boogex
Cakewalk TapeSim
Ampeg SVX and Amplitube

ETC...

I Swear it's the last time i post something this long
