| Roger Linn stated that his product is not an MPC. It is simply a drum machine. Unless you have stock in Akai..why care? |

| ^However the Smith/Linn machine does sample, and sequence........ Ummmm just a drum machine? How?.....if it samples then no it's not. Even it's sampler is no further complicated than the mpc3k, it will likely be a huge success, and be very usable as a standalone. |

akai lived off the fact they owned the mpc name. roger linn is the genius behind it. the main difference is that it seems the sequencer will be all internal a la the sp1200...so be it. if it has a full fledged sequencer (i.e. can sequence outside sources) all the better. i know these two gentlemen were behind 2 of the 3 holy grail hip hop machines (440/mpc) and i have faith. faith that he'll have banks!!! and other mpc like features. of course he cant call it an mpc. roland/ensoniq werent up to pushing akai with the asr-x/mv series joints (imho). roger linn and dave smith will. for a thousand dollars (not 3,500 for a piece of crap akai wont even support) | |

| Me and Mel Man ran up on Dave Smith at NAMM as he was walking out of the building. He was carrying the prototype wrapped in plastic under his arm. Dave was kind enough to unwrap it and let us take a peek and hit the pads. Looks awesome. He said it will be ready towards the end of the year. Can't wait.
