Great video. Nice to hear them talk about how they got started. Is it me, or did they they almost lose it and come short of clling call Nas a lazy bastard?

I called Leotis (my ex-publisher) and told him Salaam shouted him out. He was happy about that.

Thanks for the link...

A bit off-topic, but I still think some of Chucky Thompson's best work ever is when he produced the entire Frankie (not Frankie J.) 1997 album called "My Heart Belongs To You" and Faith EVan's self-titled debut in 1995.

Recently, he produced Emily King's "West Side Story" and did a great job, but nothing landmark like his mid-90s production work hands down.

Salaam Remi produced for NAS and other Hip-Hop artists on Columbia and Atlantic in the 90s big-time. I think he produced a couple of Hip-Hop-Soul artists too.

I like producers who sample intelligently.
Its not just about sampling.
I think that Chucky especially, has done some decent work in the past and hes not just some knucklehead idiot who thinks he is a producer.

I like answering "obscure" and "old" threads. I haven't sat down and appreciate this site like I should have been doing.

But yeah, Fat Chucky needs to bring that 90s sound back. He was killing the R&B producing game single-handedly 10 years ago.

I heard that Vincent Herbert is still producing. I wonder: does Eddie F. still have his Untouchables Studio up in Closter, NJ?

Don't forget: Tim & Bob sample intelligently too. No Puffy 90s disco-slowed-down-to-95BPM shark bytes either.

Go thru a shitty divorce and let your wife win all your publishing in the divorce decree... I bet your ass would only sample outta spite (even tho he replays mad stuff)... Anyway, how would you feel if you've pushed upwards of 30 million units and your pushing a Cherokee that doesn't even have a HEMI stamp...

About as comparable as the "Sample Comment" above... I find it funny how people generalize a body of work from another producer, when they just do what the client wants or what the A&R ask for... One Mic was replayed... I witness Chucky pick up a guitar with only 2 strings (not knowing how to play in the first place)... and make a huge record for Faith... Salaam also gets it in... homie made it seem as tho dude just loops shit... My comment was that dude is doing what he has to stay afloat... to pay the bills... what motivates someone to create stuff is often outta necessity... we all have records and ideas we pitch but its often the stuff we don't particularily like that gets picked up...

Thats all... My bad if I turned this into a Materialism thread... But to hear someone get reduced to a Crate Digger... when they are crazy talented and going thru shit, in a forum where they cant defend themselves... I feel compelled to paint the bigger picture...

My bad... even Rich Harrison made those Meters Loops blast off...

That's why you never cohabitate with an American woman. Strictly sport-fukk-and-chuck them. Why do you think I'm in Thailand now?? I'm twistin' the shit out of these Indo-Chinese women here: long limbs, big wombs for my cock, and are cheap to sport-fukk (and chuck if necessary).

America is so anti-male now that looking at an American woman spells overnight in the [jail] tombs. I'm good, man. However, I miss the BBWs. I love overweight pussy; it fits the contours of my dick like e.coli and rotting salmon.

Look at that shit. Chucky barely knows music theory, but has an ear for music, and makes it sonically work. There is nada wrong with being a producer that doesn't know music theory. Just as long as your music doesn't sound like it's one/two note hits and loops, then I still can respect their work.

Oh man...Rich Harrison produced the mess out of Amerie's "Touch" album. Yeah Lil' Jon produced the title track, but damn man - Rich Harrison brought the NYC sub bass and NYC 90s drum kits back on Amerie's "Touch" album. It gets rotation monthly, and that CD is three years old now.

He also produced J. Lo's "Get Right" with that 90s NY horn riff loop, but he sampled it intelligently. He didn't just let a perfectly BPM-synced loop run in the background. When I hear "Get Right", the n*g**r comes out of me. All I want to do is grind up on a full-figured woman and grab her snatch while freakin' her in the corner with a Booger Revenge of the Nerds smile on my face.

It's one of those STDs that kept American Soldiers in the Pacific Rim... and not let back into the country after the Vietnam War...

WTF? Yo man. Why do I hear a nice remastered throwback to "White Lines (Don't Do It)" in the gearslutz PA system??

Yes, I'm looking at you, son.

And I cringe.
