Thread Starter | Compliment to a Waldorf Micro Q Phoenix Rack
I have a good friend that works a local pawn shop who has the following in stock Nord Lead 2x, Access Virus TI, Studio Electronics SE1x, Alesis ION, and a Korg Radias, that he wants to move, I guess someone had to pawn their studio (so sad). He will let me get most at 50% off retail price. In the synth department I have a Waldorf Micro Q rack and an Alesis Fusion(that I may trade him for one of the racks), although these are doing a good job, this is a unbelievable deal to pass up and it will help him get rid of this inventory so we help each other out. Which items do you think I should add to this setup from what he has to offer. I have Roland Fantom so I am good on romplers and just want to get purchase synths from here on out. Im not trying to add redundacy and want different flavors. I have played all these synths except for the SE1X, and like them all in their own rights. Please chime in.

I love my TI ... and it is current ... the other stuff isn't as flexible in my opinion. if you don't want the TI, I would love to buy if the price is right |

My friend had a micron, and as far as I know its pretty much the same thing as an ION, just smaller. It was a very cool machine capable of lots of different sounds. MICRON sucked, cause it had a tiny screen, so it was awfully hard to edit sounds. Studio Electronics is supposed to be a great synth, and Nord Lead is too, don't know much about Radias. Heard that TI is not as good as Virus A and B. And that it requires a computer for editing. I don't like that.... |

well you seem happy already with your rompler standings, so I would probably get the SE because its suppossed to sound like a moog for less money. =) sounds like the most bang for your buck out of them all to me. I had an Ion and it sounded boring to me. Didnt matter what patch or how it was edited or what efx etc. always seemed boring to me and the keys are cheap and too small. Was like playin a toy keyboard. Just my opinion though Im sure a lot of people love their ion for 1 reason or another. Anyways thats my vote the SE all the way!! good luck to ya!
