Drum Sequencer

Sup all.

I have Battery 3 running it as a plugin in Pro Tools 7. I need some kind of good drum sequencer that I can use for my Hi-hats, as I'd rather have a sequncer run those parts. Preferabbly if ya know of any free ones that are Mac compatible.

Respect.

Not software, or free (but it will work with your mac)

Schaltwerk Info

Pretty sweet sequencer for drums.

I guess I should also mention that I would rather not have a piece of hardware. I need something that I can run as a plugin within PT.

Something like Reason's ReDrum, just without having to run Reason.

Any takers?

Guru is a fantastic plugin. It could even replace Battery.

Not sure what MAX/MSP is, but I will look into it.

I have been hearing lots of good stuff about this guru program. I mean I'm still getting used to Battery, so its not too late to switch programs.

The biggest issue I have is workflow. Like I have mentioned, I run the program as an instrument track in PT, which a lot of times starts to hinder my creative workflow due to all the "re-routing" I have to do. As well as the original reason for this post, to search for a sequencer that I may use as my hi-hat programs.

Thanks for the info folks! Is it worth trying out the demo, or is it extremely limited?

Respect.

Before you waste any money, what is wrong with the sequencer in Pro Tools for you're hihats? Also, what exactly are you trying to do with your hihats? Are you trying to have many different variations that you can call up on the fly (i.e. load a midi file that triggers a hihat sequence) You might be able to do that with Battery and ProTools. I just need to understand what you're trying to do. Ppl made some good suggestions, but you might be able to do without it.

I think I would have to agree with what he is saying. Its always interesting to try out new things, but maybe there would be a bigger payoff in the long run if you just sticked with battery a lil longer.....thats unless you have already figured out all there is to using Battery, and are not totally feeling it for your needs. In that case I would have to suggest Guru or even Reason 4 so you can take advantage of the new ReGroove mixer and its MPC Grooves.
