| We are taking our act to the stage, but I cant stand live hip hop shows without a band. The musicians we get to do the live shows are mostly rock dudes who just play the chops I tell em' to. Me being a gearslut, i want to know what a good drum set would be. I want somthing that is fuggin BEEFY... I mean thick and thumpin.. please let me know.. ![]() |

| Hey mate. I been using a mapex orion kit and it (esp the kick) sounds fat as puck! Also the yamaha recording custom kits sound amazing. Basically you can get most kits (as long as the shells are in good condition) to sound good if they are tuned properly. Soft beater on the kick for a round attack and crank up the tuning of the snare and you're off and racing! Enjoy! Im workin on a project with steve spacek, mark pritchard, josh wermut and myself on drums as we speak. A bit of a hybrid kit (mostly electronic w/ triggers I must admit) but the kick, snare and real cymbals n hats come into play for sure! Have fun! Dizz1 ![]()

| Lives for gear | just about anything really, if ya tune it right. personally, I'd go Questlove style, kik , piccolo ( he uses the yamaha cranked to death) kik padded down ( probably) and maybe a floor tom. find someone that can play the style is job #1.

| Lives for gear | DW is great. Also check out old Sonor S-Class Kits , I own one ...sounds great! The snare is awesome. Use a small snare and small kickdrum. |
