anyone know what vocal chain was used on alicia keys new record?

just heard the entire alicia keys album WOW! any one know what was used on her vocals? they sound fairly raw with minimal glassy effects on them. I work with a vocalist that happens to sound very very close to her vocal tone and im after that sound with her. have some decent mics and pre but not quite sounding the way alicia sounds. any help appreciated.

I've read somewhere that usually she uses U47 or Sony c800...but don't know what was used on As I Am. The album is great!

This is an aside from vocals, but I love how she actually released a full-sounding album at a lower volume! This album's sound is about twice as thick as a lot of the stuff I've been hearing lately. Great songs, too.

not heard whole album, just a couple of tunes.....think the single "no-one" is really "average" I think her voice sounds thick, overblown and tired and who chose those drum sounds?.......probably her.

look on the album. She has used the same Engineer on the Diary's album as on this one. Her engineer is a part of her production team.

Thats something im happy to see, an Artist working with a producer and a engineer as part of a team instead of a hired gun. I find the music sounds more organic.

Yess I would have to agree. It makes an album sound more cohesive as well.

i don't think its that great. there are some shining moments.
but for the most part she didn't really push her boundry much. same I wish i was a 70s baby alicia. but if it aint broke why fix it eh? In fact the first comment i made with out even reading up on it.. sounds like she's opened a studio and decided to start producing all her own music.

track 7 is kinda hot. the drums are real hot.
track 10 im feeling..
track 11- i can hear clive saying you know amy whinehouse is hot.. can you do something like that.. its hot though i gotta say..
thats about all i felt like rewinding..

The chick is crazy talented... one of the best.. so she can do anything she wants and it still be 90% better than half the crap out there. I just wanted to be BLOWN AWAY and i wasn't..

i dont know teh vocal chain but if ima guess..

That studio has been redone in the last couple of years... they got rid of the AWS and got a Duality.

Awesome vox, nice beat....90's vibe kind of reminds me of some of the easy mo B beats on "Ready to Die".

And this might be off subject but if you guys can let me know how is this chorus effect achieved i will be very grateful. I am talking about the times when the voice is heard first to the left or the right channel and it makes it extremely wide. Is this just stacking and paining or there is another technique for that? And its so common in R&B and Hip Hop music i have been trying to get it but i always have phasing issues. Im sorry if this is very much out of subject and if there is a thread about it please direct me to it.

Well, According to me The console's front-end amps and converters are warm sounding, and the Vox Box is currently one of my favorite vocal processing units that I rely on a lot.
