Thread Starter | Battery question I apologize if this was covered in another thread but i couldn't find it. Ant battery users know how to adjust the way a sample plays in Battery? i.e. selecting one shot, looping or play as sampled in akai samplers. is there a way to select this and what page is it on? |

| Battery 3 and envelopes as far as looping goes, there's a LOOP page in the plug in window. for a start, load a loop, turn on the loop mode, set it to "release". don't hesitate to work with more than one loop setting. thumbsup when the volume envelope is set to on, the envelope will be played until the end, even though you release the key. I bet you'll find a use for this info and............read the manual. in case of battery, reading it is quite helpful, as it is a "deep" plug in. |

| Use "voice groups" in the Set up Tab. Select Voice Group one, the set max voices to 1. Now any pad assigned to Voice Group will be mono. An easer way to work is to make two instances of battery. One of them mono for your chops, and another normal for your drums. To make a "note off" select ahdsr in the volume envelope section in the main cell tab, turn the release nearly all the way down(all the way causes nasty clicks). Once I learned all that my Mp became a really expensive midi controller. |

the envelope will fade out the sample according to the settings, instead of either one shot/note off. thumbsup

| Hmm works for me man, I don't know what to say. If i want to do a note off I just turn the release down in the ahdsr envelope and the sample only plays as long as I hold down the pad. It remains at a constant amplitude during the entire time the pad is pressed down. Im using battery 3 with the most current updates, Im not sure if its different for other versions. Again to reiterate this has the exact same effect on a sample as when I make a pad "note off" in my mpc. |

| Oh as far as looping function in battery, I dont use it. i dont know if thats what you were confusing my info with. I dont know how to use the looping function with battery. I put my loops on a mono pad and adjust the tempo till it loops right or adjust the pitch to fit the tempo. |

if the sustain is NOT set to 0db, the sample decays and remains at the level of the sustain option, thus losing volume (something you don't want, and that's why I linked to the other thread). try it out yourself. load a loop. set the AHDSR to the following settings: A 0, H 0, D 300-400ms, S -20dB, R 0 that's why I linked to the other thread where I explained how envelopes work. hope this helps. thumbsup try out the "loop" function too. nice for repeating tails in a sample.

OHHHHHH now I see what your saying. i guess I just left out the rest of the info. For some reason I assumed we all know if you have a decay or attack we will be fading out/in the sample. P.s I when i was writing my first response there was no replys and when I finished you had allredy replyed so I missed that link. Peace.

that's why it's important to set the sustain level to 0db/100%. the loop mode is not only useful for loops. when you've synced a loop to the tempo of the song (like you said you do), you can simply turn the loop mode on and you have to play the note once or you hold it until you want the looping to stop. you can also set the number of loop cycles AND the fading out via the volume envelope (after you have released the key). so for example, if you let a 2 bar loop cycle three time, it will play for 8 bars. this is nice for both triggering whole sequences with just one key stroke, or even rearranging a loop, "remixing" it. if you have a nice sample, but it's simply too short, you can use the loop function to repeat parts of it. lets say you have a clap with a reverb on it and you want to make the reverb part longer, you just loop the part (or more than one part of it). hope this helps. thumbsup
