Yes that is very true.

That is why I always have a correlation meter in sight while mixing. I recently started using Brainworx BX Control, which allows me to get as wide a sound as I ever could want, but not loose my mono compatibility. I could also A/B between stereo and mono with the same plugin, and if I dare do so, I can do some mid-side processing.

A few pages back someone mentioned "Jenny From the Block". Did you mix that?
The reason I ask is because there's that "South Bronx, South South Bronx" thing goin on in the mix (with KRS1 and Scott LaRock).
I recorded that "South Bronx" tune for Boogie Down Productions in 1987 in my bedroom in Queens. All I used was a sampling Drumulator and a Tascam 80-8 tape deck. We did the whole tune in about 2 hours. Mostly just samples. (We also did the flip side "The 'P' is Free" and D-Nice did that 'human beat box' thing into a Shure sm57).
So in "Jenny", it's funny to hear a sample of a tune that's basically all sampling to begin with.
Thanks again for all your responses,
James Leonard

Just wondering exactly why you choose not to compress 808's or basslines..? Are there instances when you would consider it ? Do you use alot of compression at the end of your chain for the complete song ?
i dont do it because i like it breathe plus there compression coming out of sample or keys an other sorts.crack that bitch up is what i say
