Yeah travis dont Live drum on all his stuff. I actually heard a beat CD from Travis from my boy CHE, he had some hip hop beats he was doing, only 1 or 2 had live drums.

But ...Umbrella was a hit!

So, are they or aren't they live drums... Apparently the drums are from a garageband/logic preset kit... was it a loop or a kit?? Either way I was blown away by the sound of those drums, the mixing was on point.

It reminds me back in the times I heard tons of Reason loops used in these ringtones commercial... Pathetic.

But here we're talking about another level of production. The synth are awesome and actually sound like rain (undermixed). The loop had bean really well eq'ed and sound alot more thicker on the record. So actually, it's no big deal. It's just as impressive as when The Neptunes use Triton presets.

The loop has been layered with another kick to give it boof ......

It's great and novel that we know which loop they used for the song , but i do not understand why this makes the track any less than what it is in the eyes of some , unless people think that songs are just vehicles to place beats over and not the other way around !

who gives a **** where the loop comes from? why is it suddenly 'so lame' when a couple of weeks ago everyone was sucking each other off over this track?

One of the key elements in this track, is the drum mapping and the sound!! A fresh and innovative rhythm of todays R&B - And then it turns out, it's just an apple loop??!

oh man...

I'm sorry. But that's like, if "Still Dre"'s piano riff, was an apple loop...

Well the producer made a hit out of this loop.
That's his job so who really cares?

FYI, Tricky produced the album I am told.

Anybody know how much "producing" Tricky actually did?

You're absolutely right.

Maybe I'm the only one now feeling, these producers behind the track, aren't as "genius", as I thought they were.

They made a fantastic track, but it's not a groundbreaking masterpiece anymore.

But who the f*** cares anyway...

everybody dogging the fact that is an apple loop will NEVER be successful.

so it's JUST an apple loop. you didn't care before. you didn't KNOW before.

as another has said SO MUCH of hip-hop has been about using loops cut from vinyl.

somebody else uses a common everyday accessible piece to write a HIT song and people get MAD and dismissive, like THEY COULD have done it.

but they didn't, and they never would have, because they don't have the EAR to HEAR what someone else heard.

art is transformation. everything is influenced. all "creations" are merely subjective interpretations of intangible dimensions.

nothing wrong with apple loops by the way, seeing as how i hear them EVERYWHERE, especially on television.
