Question about BATTERY VST and Nuendo sequencing!!!

Im trying to start sequencing my tracks in nuendo using battery but i just have a quick question... I want the samples to cut each other off in battery like they do when you set the mpc program to "Mono" how would i do this?

Also if i wanted to quantize sounds from my fantom into nuendo how would i set the midi up?

set the voice numbers to 0 in battery to get the mono effect so it wont overlap

I don't use that method. I use choke groups.

Quote:
Voice Groups, have been around a long time but Battery 2 adds some indisputably fine new twists to this section. There are 63 voice groups available in Battery 2 and they are usually assigned to instruments that shouldn't sound or play "over the top" of each other when the other one is sounding. The "standard explanation" for clarifying this is the "hi-hat open/closed one… A real set of drums can't have an open and closed hi-hat sounding at the same time, so the concept is to assign those two sounds to the same voice group. If you hit the open hat and then immediately hit the closed hat, it will instantly stop the open hi-hat. Got it? Now, here's where N.I. has really shown their creativity. A parameter called "Voice Overlap Time" is available which allows a time from 5 milliseconds to 2.5 seconds to expire before it will shut off the other sound. How cool is that! Furthermore, you can set polyphony for each group from 1 to 127 voices and you have an advanced voice group called "Choke Group" that in essence via some inventive settings allow you to obtain "trailing" drum sounds, while having a controlled polyphonic group that is still able to choke the group! Confused :… This one requires some time to get your head around, but it is powerful and very well explained in the manual.
For example:
Quote:
Take those
same hi-hat sounds and set them to exclusive voice groups. Such
that the open hi-hat is voice group 1 and the closed hi-hat is voice
group 2. Now the open hi-hat sound can be set to more voices, 5
for example. This allows some “trails” to be heard. The second
voice group can be set to 1 max voice. Both of these groups should
now be assigned a choke group of 1. With this setup you obtain
the desired effect of trailing drum sounds, while having a
controlled polyphony (voice group 1) and you can still choke that
group with the closed hi-hat.

You are going to have to read up your manual to figure that out.

As for having your midi stuff follow tempo, you have to change each midi track from linear timebase to musical. Go into the help section of Nuendo and type in musical and read up on those two things a bit so you get a better understanding of each before you move on.

By default, every track is timebased.

Ok i figured out the fantom thing.... NOW i have ANOTHER question!! lol
when i eq the drums in battery the output clips and forces me to make the drums lower... usually it gets so low that the mix just isnt loud enough in the end.... whats a good method of eqing drums on battery.... I kinda like usin nuendo but i think the workflow on the mpc is alot faster and smoother... also the sequencer in nuendo is a little shakey for me i think....

Eq with Battery as you normally would, and apply some compression and limiting along with it, which Battery also offers along side the Eq.

Applying the compression and limiting should allow you to control the peak level of each drum without having to sacrifice its loudness level.

I had this issue recently. Just click on the little clock button on the track. It will turn orange. Now when you change the tempo, the midi notes will change with it.
