Stephen Marley "Mind Control"

I was listening to the new album "Mind Control" by Stephen Marley tonight testing out my new monitors.

This album sound amazing. I keep seeing threads asking about which albums of late have impressed you. This one gets my vote.

The tracks with Mos Def, Ben Harper, Illestr8 are all hot as hell.

Highly recommended!

Any idea what was going on with this recording? Equipment? Techniques?
It sounds waaaay lush and "milky" for a Reggae Album

Fully agree - this album is pure fire! I think a bulk of the credit goes to Stephen for his slammin' production (I guess you might expect that from a Grammy winner...and the Son of Bob!). He co-produced a bulk of his bro, Jr. Gong's, album (Welcome To Jamrock)...which I thought had an equally great sound. No insight into equipment/techniques...but I can say that from seeing him perform live, he has an AMAZING band. Combine great musicians, production and the vibe of recording in JA...and you have a fantastic starting point. To me, the record has more of a wide dynamic/strong/analog sound compared to a lot of the loud/sterile records out nowadays.

Haven't heard this but Stephen Marley is a brilliant producer, know what you mean by creamy, that's the word I'd use to describe the Welcome to Jamrock album

Yeah Stephen is the real thing...

It's kinda funny you guys brought him up.

He's playing my city (Nashville) this wednesday and I'm opening up the show.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to chat production with him.
