mpc 4000 vs mpc 1000

Hey guys,

I have recently purchased a mpc 1000 and been using the mpc 2000xl at the big studio. I love the feel of the 2k and the ease of the 1k with the new jj os. I have been told that the 4000 has the best punch. I really love the 1000 and i have a mostly a software setup with logic studio and battery 2. I can get my drums to bang on logic but they don't bang as much on the 1k.

Is there a way to correct this or should i just go for the mpc 4000. All my industry buddies are telling me that's the industry standard now and what i should have.

Help !!!!!!!

most people have the opposite problem, they can't get software drums to bang like the mpc.

you know guys like dre and battlecat have been known to EQ, compress, and get their drums how they want on software, then transfer to the mpc. just a thought.

as far as the 4000...
uh...i don't know about your friends.

no drum machine is THE standard. the big producers ive seen in the studio use the 2000's and the 3000.
large professor and salaam remi had a 1000.

lol

oh ok. yea i have no problem with the drums on logic pro. i can get them to really bang check the sig. I guess maybe i should really just stick with the 1000. I can't help but be attracted to that 4000. I know the 3000 is the best sounding because i know and I have heard it as a fact. I just don't like how it wouldn't be practical in my mostly software setup studio...

I think the 4000 or the 2500 would be a better fit...

the 4000 has the most features. it shares some with the 1000
like being able to transfer wavs with your DAW digitally and not losing any fidelity. the 4000 is the hummer, the 1000 is the jeep wrangler.
either or will get you to the top of the mountian.
the 1000 has a problem with the pads though...they are the only mpc pads made by a different manufacterer(probably to keep the costs down) and they can stop working. i think they rubber actually breaks up.
the manufacterer will replace them for you, but they replace them with the same pads. so after awhile you might have the same problem.
the sounds should both be equal if you are tweaking em on your DAW.
i dont know if they have different D/A converters, that is the main thing that would change the quality of the sound.
I love my mpc 1000, i havent had the pad problem, and the money i saved allowed me to buy BFD and some other fun stuff.

i thought i did, but all i had to do was hold erase and boot my mpc and it restored setting that i somehow messed up.
i realized they worked still, after not getting any sound out of my box, when i noticed the pads were responding to me. i have no idea why it wouldnt make any sound.

i love most of the MPC's i wish i had enough money to buy them all.

im looking into both the 4000 and 1000 right now but i have no cash for either yet. the 1000 is really cheap and affordable, the MPC 4000 is way more powerful i would imagine though.

i had a 2000XL and im also interested in seeing what the 2500 is saying.

I've had to replace a pad on mine. Seems like another one is going out on it as well.

akai is going to start offering a "pad upgrade kit" for the 1k...

I just got word that most of the pad kit is in stock but Akai is
waiting for the last piece which is suppose to be in next week. I'll be
adding them to our web store as soon as possible and in the meantime we'll
be taking pre-orders. Akai will be selling them for $199, we'll be selling
them for $179, and we'll install them for an extra $35.

Feel free to let the forums know that the pads will be here soon and people
can order now.

Best Regards
