Kick Tonic , Finding Key and Resonance?

Hi guys , this is my first post here , but the thing is when im making a beat i get the kick and the bass sitting together really good sometimes using the tonic so there on the same note so when they hit it sound smooth and powerful and as one.

but the problem is sometimes it does'nt always work as well as other times , does anybody know a solid way or at least a better way of doing it rather than using ears.

ive heard you can use a guitar tuner , but wouldnt tht be like Waves PAZ??
ive heard you can use something like Antares Autotuner to exact key ( havent used tht yet tho )

the way im currently doing it now is using waves PAZ n looking at the big peak on my kicks and find the closest key by getting its frequency and using a note calulator to find its nearest key.

Any help or advice would be very grateful as i know there alot of people on here that were asking the same type of question.

it not i have a problem with doing it , i just wish there was an easier way of doing it faster and finding EXACT pitch!

no disrespect but i think you're complicating the process. i pitch the kick and bass till they sit right period. when it sounds right..its right

Your kik should be pitched correctly on every track. But sometimes, certain frequencies within the kik will indicate that the kik is one pitch, but when the kik is un-soloed, other frequencies will stick out, indicating a different pitch. The trick is to figure out what pitch the kik appears to be in context of the track, and then adjust from there. Your ears are really the best way to judge, but one trick you can try is to take a sub bass and record a stab at the tonic pitch. Then layer that sub-stab under the kik. You'll have to adjust the stab from there, but the goal should to add those frquencies into the kik, so you can be sure its right.

Thanks alot for you help , i do that sometimes with kick and bass

( Make Hits on diffrent notes with the kick and bass ) until i get one that sounds smooth and more mixed.

I also found a program on another thread that people were posting , that said the program could acurately change the tone and cents of any sound , n they used it on kicks n other things.

it on Free software downloads, audio tools, internet utilities, DirectX plugins, original MP3 music, MIDI software, web tools, and much more! /// AnalogX ( if anyone interested )

but ive only used it twice but something feels like it doesnt work , im kinda thinking might be worthwhile using my ears on this one , i feel i get better results tht way even tho it might take longer to do.

Cheers for you help!!
