can someone tell me where the "note off" and "mono/poly setting" are located in battery. ---that is what they are called on MPCs----just looking for the equivilant functions. By note off i mean, when you let go of the pad, the sample stops. and by mono/poly i mean, that when you hit another pad the sample stops. thanks Mike Chav www.myspace.com/mikechav <New drum Kit available at www.motionsamples.com > |

you have to go to the cell tab and select adsr to get the note off function. i think mono/poly is controlled with the group assign. set notes that you want to terminate each other in the same group

hey Mike, go to the cell you want to play. set the volume envelope on. set attack, decay AND release to 0 and sustain to 100%. the envelope will chop off the sound the moment you release the key you are playing (that's what you want). the "attack" is responsible for the delay (fade in) after you press the key, before the sample reaches its full level. (the "hold" holds it at the highest peak) the "decay" alters the fade out after the highest (volume) level. the "sustain" value holds the volume level as long as you press the key. the "release" fades out the sample. play with all these values. very nice for layered tracks, where you control one cell with a specific envelope and put a second sample in another cell, with another envelope - but set both cells to be triggered by the same key. this works very nicely for layered, long 808s with "sticky" kicks (try out a long 808 and double it with a short, punchy 909). hope this helps. thumbsup |

thank you but it was not quite the answer i was looking for. Adjusting the ASDR puts a specific envelope value on the sample. what im looking for is the function that is equivilant to "note off" on the MPC4000. Basically if you have a 5 second sample and you hit the pad once and let go the sample will play for its entire 5 second duration. But with "note off" function on the MPC, the same sample will only play as long as you hold the pad down. when you release the pad the sample stops. This allows the sample to play for different durations everytime you hit it........this is a MAJOR sound of hip hop.....there HAS to be a way to do this in battery......still havent quite figured out the group mono poly thing either. Thanks |

is there another way? because i've created an 808-ish wave with NO adsr shaping in the actual wave itself. i adsr shaped it in battery. now... i need to be able to have something like ""note off"" while keeping the adsr settings in battery. hope i'm clear... thanks. EDITTTT: nevermind.... maestro had the solution..... in setup have # of voices @ 0. |

Yup. This is how you do it. A lil more programmable this way. Edit: Referring to the way Markus said to do it. Sent from my PC36100 using Gearslutz.com App |

yeah works, only problem now is there's pops and clicks right before the next note because of the note cut off. ^^ solved... set slight overlap. | |
