the mother of all outboard analog filters is the sherman.

kind of hard to use, but you can come up with some bad ass sounds with it.

I like running samples thru my Moog Phatty. It's limited to mono but so were the best old samplers.

The Schippmann Ebbe und Flut is excellent for this application.

cheers,

cool!
thanks guys
hey wideawake
does the moog filter sound warm and FAT?
i just need FAT low pass filter.
will MF101 do the job?

filterfactory seems a little too expensive for me

so my choice is narrowed down to
akai filter, electrix or moog i guess
what is the most FAT? and warm filter of these three?

my guess is the moog?
any other mf101 users? tell me how it sounds

thanks!

First choice for me would be any Moog product. I'm using a Moog Voyager for most bass-leads. That rules out any need for an external filter-unit. It can also be used as a filter with an extension-unit. Con: Pricey.

I also use the MFC42 from Akai. It gives a nasty analog-feel. It's got overdrive, phaser, stereo LFO-filters, midi-sync, tap-button etc. FAT. Kinda cheap.

Sherman is on my list, but I don't see the need with this setup.

that looks sick. most will say Sherman Filterbank. Electrix is re-releasing their line for CHEAP. Might be something to look into.

for cheap filter thrills check out the jomox m-resonator.

Its not the most flexible filter ever but cheap as chips from thomann.de

Sounds pretty decent and is fun has enough to keep me entertained for a while anyway.

I really like the akai filter, it sounds great plus it's midi syncable, I wanted a sherman but you can't sync it via midi which is a must have for me.

I have an Akai MFC42.....it's neat but a little on the noisy side. (could just be mine though...anyone else have this problem?)
