| I was working for a online company answering phone calls all day (customer service). I got fired because of my bad attitude (I hated taking orders from people). It turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. I haven't had a boss in 2 years. ![]() ![]() ![]()

| i run a really small graphic design / software company.....it's me and whoever i subcontract. started it after i couldn't keep a regular job and kept getting fired for...various reasons. :p i actually designed some skins for some FXPansion plugins back in the day, and i tried jumping into doing graphic design for native instruments but they didn't wanna hire me... subimage interactive: a portfolio of our past work .......no i won't make your web site, or hook up your myspace page :/ but i'd rather be making beats. and oh yeah, if you run a studio and need to invoice your clients check out this program we put together. if that shit takes off i can just chill and make beats hahah........ |

| Lives for gear | Firefighters are on a “24 on / 48 off” schedule. This means that you will come in at 7:00 am on one day and leave at 7:00 am the next day. Then you will have two entire days off. If you take of one scheduled work day, you will have five consecutive days off. leaves so much free time for music. plus all the fringe benefits...much cheaper health/dental/vision insurance, retirement plan, consistent income when music money gets slow, no hassle from cops, etc, etc.. and I've sold several tracks that were all composed while on duty at the firehouse. (double dippin'???) |

| Lives for gear | Yes...but how often. It also depends on what station you are located in. Some get more calls than others. And with modern technology, there are much less fires. Fire PREVENTION is the best way to fight fires. The fire industry is now moving into taking over the EMS(ambulance) service. More workload...yes...but it also means more money on your paycheck. |

| Pit Boss in the craps pit of a major casino. See all the bands/musicians I used to work with when I had the studio, so it's great for networking the local music scene. Pay & benefits ain't bad either.

| Lives for gear | Mainly I go to school but I do write storys for videogames (we work on a MMORPG and a small IM-App mixed with a Computergame) and do sounddesign. Don`t know if that counts since it doesn`t generate a regular income. |

| I used to practice anesthesia full-time at a local hospital, but as of May 1st, I went to part-time to devote more time to my studio. I went into the medical field so I could support my gear addiction! Regards, Bruce |

| used to work construction back in 2004 before i made the jump to full time assistant at a recording studio making 50 bucks a week.. eventually got more money and engineered more till i left that studio cuz i had enough clients to leave. havent had any other job since.. although at times, construction seems more appealing.. i liked the honest work and not having to tell someone thier song is crazy and smile for a check when its the worst thing ive heard.. EVER But then again, its worth it to satisfy my sneaker habit ![]()

| i also did construction before i did this as a career, and i'm NOT GOING BACK, lol. i'm an engineer/assistant now, but before that i used to make pizza, cook, construction, and DJed parties and mixtapes. come to think of it, i'm really glad i did construction for awhile. makes me work harder at what i do now because i know how hard others are working for a lot less. amd it made me pretty handy around the house/studio too. |

| hahaha Rick we have so much in common. I worked Construction, but when i went back to school i dropped that. Now i cook pizza at a high end pizza shop 30 hours a week to keep the rent paid, and DJ mixtapes and for a few crews around to support the gear *****ness i have. Also, i do sound design and audio post for independent films that have LOW budgets in the studio/converted master bedroom of my 2 floor apartment. I intern at a audio post house, and when customers get quotes on work and they cant afford that in the budget, the post house sends them to me hahaha. Ill probably end up working for them when im done school, and part time as a freelancer at a few studios i have built a relationship with threw school. Peace, Rob |
