| Reason 3's Scream 4 Distortion unit has anyone used this at all for drums? what are yor thoughts. i personally like setting it to tape and tweaking the "eq" a little bit to get a rugged old school sound for my drums. but since reason just doesnt work well in my current studio setup i was looking for a similar unit, preferably hardware, that can give me this same sound on drums. whos got something for me? |

For hardware its gonna depend on your taste. There are a lot of gear out there that can be used in non-traditional ways to manipulate drums and other sounds. Just research and look around until you find something that makes sense to you. | |

| Fatso Jr Dude, check out the Empirical Labs Fatso!!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> It can do some pretty amazing tricks with electronic drums. The Fatso is not as destructive as the "Scream" in terms of distortion, but what the Fatso achieves has to be the most musical warmth and "punch" for your drum tracks, as well as other instruments such as; keyboards, bass, and who can forget the ever elusive hip hop vocal sound. Up front, really warm, big and "Round"!! <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Also, check out the Thermionic Culture Vulture if you are looking to generate some pretty amazing distortion tones. I have found that the Vulture can really give me "the drum sound from HELL" if I want that of course. On the other hand, using the Culture Vulture as a gentle warming device for the whole mix, can yield a very cool vibe as well. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> peace<o:p></o:p> mixwell<o:p></o:p>

| Lives for gear | +1 for Izotope Trash on the software side. Maybe something like a Sansamp PSA-1 on the hardware side without breaking the bank.

| Scream sounds pretty bad... There are quite an assortment of other plugins that you can use to do the job. There's a 2x better emulation for literally every function scream has. Check out Massey, etc. |
