Just bought Dynaudio's, taking them back. (revised)

So I picked some brand new Dynaudio BM5A's up at Guitar Center today. I get them home, open them up and tada! The plastic that the monitors are wrapped in are all torn to hell. Packaging that the power chords in are all ripped up, no twistie ties on them either. Now, I could care less about twistie ties, but I have never bought a piece of new gear that didn't have cute little twistie ties on the cables, and at this point I am playing Inspector Gadget. Next I looked at the monitors themselves. The bass port in the back, and the heat sink have a film of dust on them, and it wasn't light. The power cords also fit very loosely in the back of the monitors, and were scuffed as well. Not to mention no factory sealed tape on the outside of the box. I should have noticed that one. Now maybe I am being a bit picky but when I dish out a G on monitors and someone tells me they are brand new, they better be brand monkey spanking new. Also last but not least the monitor woofer had slight white marks on them. Anyway I called up GC, and told them about it and before I could even tell him what was wrong he was like, bring em back and I'll order you a new pair. So that's cool. So I will probably be getting them in the next day or so. But I have a question reguarding the next guy who go's to buy these. Will GC sell these as new again or do you think they mark them down, or as used or what. Just curious on how they might handle it. What do you guys think?

That was a pair that was either returned by someone else or on the floor. Some customers don't mind, some do. Unless the price is discounted, it's fair to expect new monitors.

Anyone who cares about this should open and quickly check inside the box before leaving the store.

Not to hijack this thread or anything, but while BM5a's are being mentioned, Im looking into getting a second pair of small monitors to sit very close to me for very critical listening. So far my decision is set on buying the Adam A7 monitors, the alternate selection would be the BM5a's.

I have been trying my best to look for as much indication as to which one provides the most detail and clarity. I guess only time will tell as to which one comes back to the studio with me after I audition both.

Hey PettyCash, good luck on getting monitors, I don't know which of the two monitors are more detailed but from what I've read you can't go wrong with either.

Ive owned the BM5as and they are harsh in the upper mids and highs so I cant imagine them being for critical listening. At lower volumes with the monitors close to you, the lower mids disappear.

Dont know about the Adams
