| Larry Smith Bass Player/producer Does anyone here know the Hip Hop Pioneer producer Larry Smith? I was just hearing similarities between Early RunDMC and Whoodini stuff, and then I remembered he produced both of them (That's probably why the Synth parts in Darryl and Joe remind me of Friends by Whodini a bit.) I'm hoping he's a Gearslut and maybe he's reading. I'd like to get in touch with him. I'm a huge fan of his work. He'd make a cool guest mod here as well. |

| I remember seeing him credited on some album but not really recent ones on shock value - boardmeeting and also on run dmc s album. But in the 80's even if I know he was a really in advance for his time and I know he did some good stuff with russel simmons like Sucker MC's and he did also some things with Kurtis blow. Anyway it would be great having him as a special guest. |

| Whodini I think as well. Everything that had his name on it was class production IMO.

Then I realized he did both of them. Man I can't believe nobody here knows him. I'd like to meet him and find out what he's done since then, or at least buy some of his new work Dude is one of the best in the game IMO. Whodini's production would be good by today's standards.

![]() (I think there's a similiar riff in Darryl n Joe (If my memory is right) And now that I know he played bass for years before. I know why Five minutes of Funk sounds like a Cameo song.

| Yeah the drums on "5 minutes" were crazy! They hit harder than any drums back then! Like a gated "Dre-ish" type sound on the kick. It must have been a linn drum or a DMX back in 83'. If my memory serves right they recorded Whodini in London at Battery?
