Thread Starter | how do you create gated drum verbs of the 80's??? hey guys i am a little embarraed to ask this but how do you create your own gated verb sound for snares and kicks of the 80's and 90's. I've got verbs with gated presets but i really want to know how to do this on my own. i've got logic and pt hd but this techinique and sound is a little before my time as a producer. thanks, ej |

| send from channel to a send-fx bus in the send-fx bus, add a reverb, then a stereo gate (assuming it's a stereo reverb & stereo fx return) send some sound to the fx-bus reverb, set a large reverb preset set the gate attack time fast as you like, set the decay as fast as you like, if the gate hasd a hold time set that as long as you like basicaly the gate determines how long the reverb sounds before the gate closes it down &how fast the gate closes the reverb sound down. longer decay/hold release = longer gated verb shorter decay/hold release = shorter gated verb the reverb itself determines how deep/big the verb is while the gate is open |

| In the air tonight - if this shit ain't hip hop send your track to the return. automate the return's level (rhythmically). fade out rapidly. |
