What's the Best external 2 channel audio interface with best pres?

Need a nice interface for laptop when on the move. I only really need 2 channels, but it's essential that the pres and asio drivers are good.
price under $800
thanks in advance

Try researching the Emu 1616M, or the Focusrite Saffire Pro.
The Emu 1616M has great built in converters for a mobile interface or any type of interface by that manner, and the pres are good enough for most applications, considering that they are onboard pres to begin with..

The Saffire Pro has nice onboard pres. They are Focusrite pres, so if the Focusrite type of sound is up your alley, you will be happy about that.

Overall if I was in your position I would go with the 1616M, the converters make for better quality recordings on the go without having to go out and buy an Apogee Mini-me. If you are very critical when it comes to getting the cleanest sound, and the lowest latency, that will be your better choice IMO.

How u doing PhonoquO ? Any new prods ?

I second Focusrite Saffire, Apogee Mini-me, and I'd add RME FireFace (awesome stable drivers / latency).

Echo has a new 2 channel and 4 channel audiofire.. I have the audiofire 8 and for money, it has the best conversion imo. probably close to the apogee with more flexbility.
