Stereo claps / snares

Hi, im a pretty big fan of those big wide snares / claps you get in alot of Timbo tracks.

As well as other tracks i.e 50 Cent 'Get in my car' , Ludacris 'Runaway Love' and so on.

Anyway, i was wondering what the best way to create these types of snare are.

At the moment im usually leaving one center, with one panned far left and one far right, then eq'ing / compressing each side slightly differently, perhaps pitch shifting a little and also sometimes putting one slightly ahead of the other to create a slight flam..

Sometimes ill have a snappier snare sample up the middle, leaving just the panned samples the same, so the snare hits you but still appears wide..

What do you guys find useful ..

I am working with a guy who wanted a super huge clap on a song, so we recorded about 10 claps each from everybody who was around and lined them all up (slightly offset from each other) and made a huge clap, it came out awesome, I mixed it with a motif snare
