Komplete 4

I finally decided its time to buy some soft synths. Any recommendations? I was considering going out to pick up Komplete 4… anyone using this?

Komplete 4 is an incredible package for what you get. Having said that, you have to be into the way NI interfaces work. I have K4 installed on my machine and while the FM8, Battery, Guitar Rig, etc sound great..the interface can be kind of a mind ****. Sometimes I feel like I have to have a programing degree to use the shit. I've actually fallen in love with Reason all over again (I have K4, DFHS, Mach 5, Indigo). I just find the Reason interface to be so musical and ready to play. The menus in K4 are a pain and hard to read. By the time I've gone through 3 or 4 patches, I'm tired and the creativity is dead. That's just my experience. Again, a lot of the stuff sounds incredible but you have to 'deal with it' and each instrument can be a resource hog.

One more Reason note...the Reason Pianos refill is the bomb!! Better than any other Piano software.

Komplete 4 is the bomb. We have tons on hardware synths including 2 motifs and we rarely use them. The only hardware synth we really turn on is our se1x cause it rocks but other than that all we use are softsynths. They are a system hog but well worth it.

Abynth is some of the most unique, pristine patches available. some of the best stereo patches as well, but not great for hip hop, generally speaking.

The Organ sounds great, the acoustic piano sounds great. FM8 is a bit tought o use. FM7 is good. Pro 53 is good. i havent figured out Battery or the other stuff yet, but its a very good package.

I use hardware now (mpc 200xl, motif xs8, fantom x6, and a v-synth xt). I'm just trying to explore some software options to add to my arsenal.

komplete is what is says

a friend of mine gave me the "komplete 4" when it first came out and it is pretty awesome in terms of sound quality, "tweak-a-bility," and has a wide range of sounds for one package. i agree with some of the other posters that money could be a little better spent on a few other things but if you already have let's say reason and the refills (my first recommendation) then this is not a bad package
