OT: MySpace promotion tool.

Not a lot of you know, but my day job right now is running a small graphic design and web shop. Don't know if anyone cares, but I wrote a little script that helps add people to your MySpace account last night. Just got done sending 500 new requests ;)

subLog : Ruby MySpace Friend Adder Script v1.0

It takes some computer knowledge to get setup, but once you do it works like a champ.

Enjoy...

I used to have a friendbot set up for my groups myspace page and they ended up deleting my account. I contacted them via email and eventually they activated the account again for me with a smack on the wrist saying if we get caught again, it's gone for good. Would your script work in a way that they won't notice?

It just goes and clicks on the "add friend" link for each person it finds on Google.

It's like you were doing it yourself, just a lot faster. Use it sparingly and you should be good...

Although, use it at your own risk! Obviously I can't make any guarantees....

Thats really handy, cynic..thanks for sharing this

I was a little skeptical of these things, posted by boardmembers, at first cuz ya never know when the script will also send all your info to a central computer location ...but since you're sharing the script it looks good, man

I didnt see, but can you add only people within a given distance from your zip code?

no..........it just searches google for a string you give it. searching google is much faster and more reliable than searching myspace.

it then rips all their friend id's to a local database, then tries to add them. real simple, but handy. for instance i just run searches like "hip hop [insert hip hop artist name here that my group might be like]"

works great ;)

you don't compile it.......you have to install ruby (scripting language) and ruby gems (scripting libraries).

instructions are on the page....just follow em. not hard at all...

this sounds like it could be great, but if you have a page which you consider "important" i'd use that program VERY sparingly... i've known tons of people that got their profile deleted and have had to start from scratch... i dont know how myspace is so on top of that shit but they are somehow....

like i said it DOES sound great tho, just be careful is all i'm saying
