Man, I fully agree with dude. (Well except for his top 5. I think Big and Pac would have to split the same seat but even that I was close to agreement with from KRS, Rakim being on top and Kool G being on the list.)

Damn I just had this conversation with some dudes in NY this week.

Damn, dude took the words right out of my mouth. His top 5 are his own preference and everyone's got their own taste but all the rappers he mentioned are dope. His view on everything he mentioned was right on point.

Get atleast 1 or 2 quality pieces and learn the sttttttttttttt out of them! Master the in's and out's. I started out that way then got side tracked with all the new sound modules vsti's etc etc. and forgot how to make the vibe in the trak. Then I got back to basics and I love doing music again and my vibes come back! So with that said, Young Guru makes some really really really viable points. That is a man that knows what he is talking about, you can just tell he is a fan and craftsman.

What I was thinking about doing is buing equipment then learning how to work them, instead of doing research first

Instead of buying equipment because of what I seen and heard can be done with it..I rather look into it myself and see everything it can do, and how it would benifit me

Like the mpc I was going to urchase it for sampling and drum programming..but I can also make sequences with it

But after researching the MV880, I can do the same thing that the MPC can, plus seprate each sound in a drum sample, you can do a little mastering, record, and make a beat in it and burn it to cd, and it comes with the orignal 808's

Don't believe everything you read.

Especially about 808's. Roland has several versions of the 808 that are NOT the original 8's

I like that Yo, straight talk, no BS, direct heartfelt answers... All those peeps that got put on by someone but refuse to help someone else need to view that interview....And if you can't play the keys, learn how to or hire someone who can and let them interpret your ideas (if you got any) bless

i prefer the advice he gave. Get lots and lots of vinyl and start sampling.

I'm not knocking his advice, just adding.....I have lots of Hits & no sampling. I like when people sample me so I can get paid again & again & again. Learn from the old folks. Bless

Earlier tonight I was experiencing some mad producing writers block during an important studio session, which really had me pissed.
Watching this interview just hyped me right back up.
The keyboard part gotta be the joke of the month up on here.
