VST's on internal or External Hard Drive?

I have recently switched over to more of a software-based set-up. Right now I run everything on my laptop… I have recycle, reason 3.0, and Ableton Live 6.0. Reason ran very well on my laptop at 512 RAM. My Acer laptop specs are 1.8 Ghz, 2 GB’s of RAM maxed, and an internal drive of 60 Gb’s. I wanted to know how you think reason will run via rewire on my system using Ableton? I haven’t tried it yet, because I have to send my laptop for repair.

In the future I am definitely going to get a Mac Book Pro or one of those Rain systems. I have two external Hard Drives, both Seagate’s. Here are my questions for you:

In order to save space on my internal hard drive, should I install the Ableton/reason’s Sound libraries on my external drive? 2. With VST's should I put them on my external HD or internal hard drive? Whenever I install a new VST it goes to the program files folder on my internal HD. Maybe install the sound library’s on the on external and vst’s itself on my internal?

Thanks for in advance for any help provided

I have my programs (VSTi's, apps, plugs) on my system drive and all of my sound library (samples, refills, etc...) on an external drive. It works fine for me.
