| RE27 on rap? How does this mic compare to the RE20 and SM7b? It's supposed to have a better high frequency response, as well as a higher output and better sound reproduction in general I think... Has anyone tried it? Is it worth the extra money? |

| i doubt most guy's will hear an apreciable diff between the 27 and the 20... IIRC they are the same with the 27 having a neodynium magnet... a bit hotter output should pretty much be it...

| The RE 27 has a higher output, 3 filters and more bling, but from what I can remember they sound about the same. Maybe the RE 20 was a tad warmer. I only used it for voiceovers. |

| If you look at the frequency curves for the RE27 and the RE20, you'll see that the RE27 has a 5dB boost in the high end. I just can't figure out whether this boost will do me good or not, without actually trying it. And unfortunately, I'm not able to try it anywhere... What do you guys think of this high end boost? |

| What are you using the mic for? You can always roll of the highs with the built in filter switch. |

| Do you think the RE27 will be better/more detailed than the RE20 and SM7b on vocals? I know, it depends... But in general? I'm thinking about getting one of these three mics, but I'm not sure which one to get. The RE27 is the most expensive of the three. So I guess that would be the most sluttiest mic to get! | I have an SM7 and RE20. From what I've heard, the RE27 sounds the same but has a higher output. If you don't have a pre with a lot of gain, you might go for the 27. These two mics sound totally different though. The SM7 is definitely darker and less "hi-fi" sounding (not that the RE20 sounds hi-fi per se), but probably more versatile as far as vocals are concerned. If it helps, you can listen to some songs I tracked with both mics on my studio's MySpace page. http://www.myspace.com/squareonestudios The hip-hop songs on there are: Pudge of Fab Deuce - Baby Bottle w/ 1272 Neve Mike Rios - SM7 w/ UA 610 or Manley Dual Mono... In the Pocket (Felix) - Two different rappers, both RE20 & UA610 (i think) I hope that helps! |

| Cool! Somehow, I like the RE20 better than the SM7 at least on those vocals. It's a bit more crispy sounding. So I'm gonna go with the RE20 or the RE27. But which one?  The RE20 is probably a bit more lo-fi, and maybe in a cool way... But spec-wise the RE27 might be better... What do you think? |

| I dont' think you'll be disappointed with either the RE20 or 27 (they are supposed to sound VERY similar), but if you have the extra cash, I say go for the 27. Good luck!  |

| I lucked out and found an RE27 in mint condition at a pawn shop for $300.  It sounds great on EVERYTHING.

| I am thinking about getting either RE 20 or SM7b right now... I have heard that you can boost some highs on the SM7 and it will sound better than re20 that way. Will listen to the stuff on myspace too... Thanx |

| the re27's highs are boosed the sm7's upper mids get boosted. I like the sm7 it handles everything preety well. |
