ATCQ Vox

I been listening to tribes midnight marauders...and i must say...IMO its the best sounding sample-based record EVER

i know it got a lot to do w/ Bob Power

but...

its so good it makes me sad that albums will NEVER sound like this again.

for all interested...go check "electric relaxation"

what kinda vocal chain were they using.

simply the most warm vox without a trace of sibilance....

uhh..........

it was all analog...plus mastering was different then.

yes cats is still making that type of music.

tribe prolly had a 500,000 dollar recording budget. its not happening for sample based artist no more.

I remember Tribe when they first came out, and I wasn't over feeling the style..as I was more into the rah rah hype hip hop of that time.

I recently just downloaded a load of Midnight Maruaders and Electric Relaxation from Itunes, and yep really got to appreciate the production, mix and mastering on those albums even on my Ipod they sound much fully rounder and fatter than most of todays mixes.

Ali Shaheed and Q-tip just filled up all the frequency range when they produced, almost like if they were natural born engineers aside from production.
