Reason with HD? Want to try reason out for doing simple stuff. Isnt it supposed to pop up as a plugin under instrument then rewire itself?

nope... Depends what software you're using. I use Nuendo. Open Nuendo first, then open Reason. You need to go to "Devices" in Nuendo and then choose Reason. This will give you the option to select the inputs from reason. I usually use the mail L+R channels first and then seperate them when mixing. Open up the instrument in Reason (nnxt, redrum, drrex etc....) create a new midi track in Nuendo and choose the output to be the device from reason that you want to use. Bit confusing at first but you'll get the hang of it. Cubase works the same way btw.

you make an instrument track, put reason in as an insert, and you are pretty much set - it will launch with rewire, and the rest is up to you...

I beleive you have to boot Protools before Reason, or may be the other way round. Which ever it does work but is confusing if its not done on the right order. As another member says it then appears as a track intsert.

PT first, and then an audio track in pt, then launch reason as a rewire instrument, which all you have todo is bring up the reason rewire plug in. Should be under instruments in the plug in list......

What versions of PT and Reason are you running? If you have PT 7.3, then you will need the newest version of Reason. On my Mac I had Reason 2.5 with PT 7.0 and everything worked fine... then when I upgraded to PT 7.3, my Reason instrument plug in did not appear in the plug in list anymore... it was because 7.3 requires the newest version of Reason. After I upgraded to Reason 3, everything worked fine again.
