How Much? engineer/mix/master ALBUM

Trying to get an idea how much it would cost to re-record 15songs for an album.
These songs are completely finished, but we would like to record it in a pro-environment to attain that Hi-fi sound. Please help me with these figures so I can properly budget this project.

Thanks

I'm assuming your talking about recording a band.. Also assuming you all have your own instruments if not you'll need to consider rentals in your buget. so first you got studio time, that can run you anywhere between $800-$2500 for 12hr. block outs. all depending on the studio and what gear they have. you'll want to find a studio that has everything you need "in house" (i.e. extensive mic collection, keyboards, amps, drums ect.) so you wont have to rent much(you'll also want a room with a Neve board the older the better if well kept just my opinion) So depending on how good your band is and how well they know the songs you can "in theory" get all 15 songs recorded in 3-4days tops!(it will most likely take longer..just my experience)Mixing depending on the engineer can take a little longer. If you mix while you record, as some engineers do, the recording process takes longer but the mixing time is cut in half. pesonally when mixing i like to do a mix a day. i can get away w/ 2 but the second one usually gets recalled later.
Then you got the engineer some studios have "in house" guys (they tend to know the rooms real well)or you can hire someone outside the studio. A freelance engineer can go anywhere between $35-$300/hr. depending on the engineer.(I know of mixers getting $5,000-$10,000 a song!)
then you got medium, what are you recording to? If its 2" tape, thats gonna run you at least $350-$400 a reel(about 16min of recording time per reel). or if your going to record to protools you can get an external 500GB hard drive for like $300 and that would probably fit all 15 songs although you'll want at least 2 drives 1 for backup. (you never know w/ digital..all i have to say is a 2" reel never asked me where an audio file was)
Then if you want to get your record mastered thats another bill. Again depending on the mastering place they can go for $1000-$4000 a project(all 15 songs). i might be over pricing the mastering a bit. i see your in BKLYN im in LA so studio prices might differ may be cheaper out their. You might wanna check out Chung King Studios. I was recording there in Jan. good rooms check them out. hope this helps any....

Thanks for the response... I am recording a male rapper and and the beats are already tracked in to protools, although I will like to re-track the beats from the mpc/keyboards in the pro-studio. Just trying to figure out a reasonable allocation for an indie project like this.

literally anywhere from $20/hr to $10,000/day. Ask around from other artists' records that you like locally. ask them who they used, then call around. let the studio/engineer know what your budget is and see if they can make it work.
really the only way.
