can you post up some of their tracks? sounds interesting. Did they call it "screw", or did they call it something else back then?

i grew up on jam pony tapes but i wouldnt call what they did chopped or screwed. they were/are great mixers and would talk over the vocals. alot of word play mixed with the songs vocals. i loved that shit. there is nothing like a jam pony tape with some body mechanic/clear/bass rock express etc........

As I've said before, the roots of British Trip-Hop go back at least as far as those of Screw.

I grew up in San Antonio, I heard some mixtapes that were slowed down in the late 80's, before I ever heard of DJ Screw. That slowed down music style was more popular in Texas than anywhere else except maybe Memphis. The Box in Houston played that ish a lot when UGK came out.

FLA had some really good "fast" music, so that wouldn't suprise me.

he is considered the originator of "screw music" ...
JPE are known for "regulating" on the microphone by cutting the music down and talking over the lyrics to create a new song, while the song is still playing..(tight)

So if you goin to include them in the mix you might as well include DJ Fury www.djfuryonline.com ... in the mix.. he was doin "Dragged"

Screw is considered the originator because he was really the 1st to release a full "screwed" album... Dj Fury had 1 or two songs "dragged" in his album but not every song..

and here is a link to what Jam Pony Express does
