Thread Starter | Monitors? best translation for the price?
I've read thru some of the e-pinions here on gearslutz about monitors, but none specific for this genre. other than ppl asking what kind of moitors and then someone saying get the blesky blah blah blah. really i can not fathom buying a system that doesn't sound good when you take the sub away, for whatever reason something about that doesn't make sense, but whatever. (im not knocking the 2.1's im just stating i dont want to hear buy those, as alas i won't be able to actually hear them without buying them.) anyways IF i wanted to step up from a pair of : Event Tr-6s what would be the best bang for buck. [i.e. best translation for the price] Krk v6 $700 Adam A7 $998 Dynaudio Bm15p $1099 mackie Hr824 $1260 Event Asp8 $1298 Jbl Lsr6328p $2299 now I do realize that they are not all the same size. regardless, those look like the options at this point. any input? |

monitors are discussed often here. a search on ALL of the monitors you mentioned will yield TENS of threads....each. fwiw, i use event asp8's and find them good for the price. Adams are very honest as well...don't think anything is hyped (at least in my listening environment).

I'd say get either an Emes Mini Owl, or a pair of NS10s

thanks. in-depth explanations on these monitros for this genre of music? no sorry. minus the mackies, which this board seems to love to hate. [really this thread is far from being a fantom vs motif thread] especially seeing how im asking about upgrading from a specific type of monitors [event tr6s] and im curious to find out, in which monitors will I see an improvement. [maybe i wasn't clear about that?] thanks. | |

I use Yamaha HS-80's and my mixes couldn't be better. These speakers are very flat and a good mix on them will translate well anywhere else you play it. The NS-10 for the 21st century.

I recenlty got the HS80's. They're sick! I use em' in tandem with NS10's though. I've used NS10's for almost 20years but since having the HS80's it's hard listening to em' as they sound so wack. The HS80's are a hot and at a great price too.

has anyone actually had one of the pairs mentioned and then switched to another? how did they compare? and why the switch? i had mackies hr824s for about 2 yrs. they are a great sounding speaker but not for my room size 12 by 13 and position on my console. i got the dynaudio bm5a's and my low mid's are solid and translate better. i would get the mackies again if they were on speaker stands and laid horizontal. |

JBL control 5's, Control LA's, Control 1's, KRK ST 6's, NS-10's. All under 400. If your going to spend more, get something really good. My ears are shot anyways!

| Which power amplifier
I've been looking all around the net and the HS 80 seem to be a great package. But can someone give some tips about which power amplifier to choose? I was thinking of the Yamaha P3500S (2500)? What do you think? Thanks.

| Lives for gear | You realize this thread is from '07, right? The HS-80's don't need a power amp., they're active.
