| it sounds like your trying to sample songs that aren't grid-locked-----figure out the tempo best you can, line up the sample on the grid, and make cuts right before every drum hit, and make sure the drums are landing right on the grid... if theyre not just nudge them onto the grid and make little crossfades to make the splices sound smooth... now your track is gridlocked and your drums should line up perfectly... you can try filtering out the bass to lessen the kik drums and make little rides on the snares, so that the track "ducks" out... now you can add your own drums, and the pre-existing drums wont interfere as much you'd do this all in pro-tools, or any DAW |

| Lives for gear | in short, it's as easy as removing the cream and sugar you've already put in your coffee.

| As con?one eloquently states, you can't just remove one element from an audio file. You can remove particular frequency ranges (which might get rid of kick drum/bassline/whatever to allow you to lay your own over the top) but you can't demix audio. And versatile - do you think you could possibly use sentences and punctuation occasionally? it wears me out just reading some of your posts... ;) |

| dude honestly it sounds like your JUST learning, if you dont know what theyre talking about when they say "filter" or "remove frequencies" your probably not going to find us much help... as already stated, its impossible to REMOVE drums, but with some advanced engineering techniques, you can lessen their presence... i'd spend some time learning the basics of audio first... also they want PUNCTUATION not PUNCTUALITY...meaning these things - .,';?!:" |

| Dog, if you want advice from GS, no one's going to take you seriously typing like you're 14-years-old, even if you are fourteen. No one cares if you can spell, make typos, or ask simple questions, but step to us like a man (or woman) if you want people here to take the time to share knowledge and experience with you. As for your question, are you asking how to jack an entire drum track off a song? A drum loop? Individual kicks and snares? The only way to do any of these is if you have a clean drum part in a song. There's no magic way to separate tracks from a record. If you hear a drum pattern in a song you like, re-create it with your sequencer in FL or whatever you're using. I also strongly suggest, as someone else did in another thread of yours, to pick up a few books on engineering. Serious producing is serious work, and it takes a lot of time and learning. Anyone who's not willing to put in that time and work shouldn't be producing.

| Ain't no one trying to give you a hard time, but unless you can intern at a studio or get an engineer to mentor you, your best bet is to read and practice what you learn. It's not about paying dues, it's about learning all the techniques to get what you want, feel me? And that reading list other homey gave you was a good one. I have two on the list and learned a lot.

Thats BS. I'm not a expert and I'm still learning. I've sat up and read books, manauls, websites and magazines. To learn what I learned. So if I do ask a question, I'll understand the answer. From the things you have asked here it sounds like you have not read anything on audio and you never went to english class. Here is a example. I just upgrade from PT 5.2 from my Powerbook to 7.2 on my Macbook. There are a few thing diffrent about it. So instead of asking things here I'm going to get the lastest reference guide and read it. Now if I get stuck with something I'll ask. And that is only after I can't find it using a search on GS, DUC or on Google. I believe info should be shared but nobody can teach you to run faster if you don't know how to walk. If you really want to learn you will do your homework. Wiz | |
