Rap Vocals - Reverb dope sounding settings, share!

When using R Verb so far i seem to never be able to quite get that clean sound that say a Dre (not comparing simple example of what i'm after) or someone else gets even Esham's vocals sound really nice.

Whats some good settings or screeshots of the rverbs or other reverbs you have mixed and some mp3 examples! Post them in here, even though every track is different i feel all i need is a starting guideline!

Here is a screenshot of a poor first attempt at making a good custom setting:

I would really love to achieve the similar reverb you hear on the Marshall Mathers LP - or http://www.myspace.com/mastacraft - craftyzyoungthang verse - which was mixed using R Verb.

Hopefully this can be a guideline/tips for great sounding reverb of all kinds!

Regards,

are you converting vocal tracks to stereo and then dropping the plug on the individual track? i prefer to use a separate stereo fx send and blend the amount of verb to taste. i also like a longer pre-delay on vocal verbs (50 ms+). you don't want to step on the beginnings of words. mono delays help as well to add depth, sometimes they sounds better than verbs.

if you just want the individual window, press Alt+PrintScreen, then paste it into Paint or whatever and save as jpg. for your whole screen just hit Print Screen and paste into paint, save.

How do you convert to stereo after recording it? Does that make it better quality?

Also a friend of mine who was mixing managed to like copy all the presets from one track to another one without having to do it all again - like it was automatically on the recording...How do i do that?

Also : Wizooverb W2 where do i get that from??

masta1...stereo doesnt enhance the overall quality of a sound, its purpose is to create a spacial openess in the music and simulate a live performance. your vocals can be recorded in mono providing your not using a stereo mic i.e rode nt4, when incorporating it into a track however its good to have it as stero so the sound can be
placed anywhere in your stereo field, or when adding multitap delays, to delay one channel (common in hooks etc)

As for the copyin chanel query, It depends on what software your using, You can clone channels in Sonar by rightclicking the channel and selecting "clone track" a little popup come sup there and you can select what you want to duplicate - fx, audio, settings etc.

In regards to reverbs, here's my standard reverb settings i use for vocals in Sonar using the SonitusFx plug ins. Depending on the track of course, i prefer a nice subtle reverb to create the illusion of a more brighter place than where i record

Regards,
The core paramaters are the same on most reverbs... So learn about reverb and audio and you'll know how to translate.

But in general, just copying settings never works, because in order to be effective everything needs to be set differently for different situations.

No doubht,

What i am also curious is with Pro tools a friend of mine who mixes(i cant reach) has a way of copying over the presets used on one track to say the 2nd verse's track and so on - also just applying it over the vocals as they are recorded....Any idea how that works?

Regards

Hold the Option key and drag the insert to the new slot and it will copy the plugin in its current state (I wanna say it's alt-drag on windows? I always forget/confuse the key commands when I go back and forth between windows and osx)
