Vocoders.....hardwave vs software?

Wattup everybody. Im not sure if thsi thread has been up before, if so please forgive me...I've always loved the vocoder sound, i wouldnt imagine putting it in every song imake but there are times when i think it just completes a track so Just gotta few questions maybe someone could fill me in?

Firstly the cheaper option, i've searched a fair bit over the years for vst plugs ins and software that promise vocoder effects but nothings ever come close...any ideas??

Realistically im gathering hardware would always be a better option in this case especially, just wondering if anyone has one and if so what brands are worth looking at? are they easy to use etc.

Again i apoligise if i sound like a toy, im just eager to learn http://gearslutz.com/board/images/smilies/nu/tongue.gif

Untill you hear an EMS vocoder, sounds nothing like a real one. The Eliosound website states " faithfully reproduces analog vocoder sounds " ? I'm still wondering what crappy vocoder he used for modelling?

I wasn't doing the vs. thing. Just stating that I was able to come up with very good tones with this that I used in tracks and found it as valuable as the vocoder on some of my virtual analogue synths. Just wanted to clarify.

maybe you other guys have problems with the interface and controls on this one? i'm no vocoder expert but liked the results others got with this one.

And grab one while you can!

They are rare and very few people sell them once they've heard them...

I love software, but the hardware vocoders are much more fun and inspiring.

Go with a talkbox. Cheapest and better sounding than a vocoder imo.
