Angry pro tools, panning won't work.

all of a sudden, damn panning won't work anymore.

panning to the right results in slightly increased volume material stays centered.
panning to the left result in almost silence material also stays centered.

so far i tried getting rid of plugs and rebooted a couple times..........
any thoughts?
thanks.

ps.
master channel visually acts like it's working.

but seriously, sh*t is irritating as f*ck.
i tried importing the tracks into a new file then it worked for a minute, then i added a plug on a bus and it was there again, something corrupts the file in a destructive way i guess.

Check the wiring for your speakers. They may have been beaten down.

Check every connection a few times over, and do it methodically. Not trying to tell you how to do things here, just saying it sounds very much like a hardware problem if you ask me. Perhaps even your Digidesign unit is at fault, but again, take your time and source out the issue.

If everything traces fine back to your convertors (Whatever you may be using) then try the same thing on a different pair of outputs (7-8 Output instead of 1-2 for examplle).

Keep us posted
-Peace

If it is indeed a software problem, then I would have to suggest contacting the manufacturer (Digi) and getting some insight as to the issue. If you don't have time for that, then consider wiping the computer, cleaning it till it shines, and reinstalling a clean os

Told ya!

A similar thing happened to me last night. I thought I had mislabeled my overheads and room mics L vs. R. Totally freaked me out for about 5 minutes. Turns out my headphones were on backwards.

We all do shit like this at some point right? :)
I remember once I was having a problem with a 192's output, and checked everything on the software side. So I decided to pull it apart and re-seat the card. If you have ever done that, you know they have 40 million screws on the top panel. So I take it apart, take the card out, slide the card back in and screw the top back on only to realize I didn't put the card in right, so I have to take all the screws back off and do it again. Then I realize the outputs still don't work.

Seems it was one of the output settings in the hardware menu, which I thought I had checked before. Cost me 2 hrs of time and about 50 new grey hairs :)
