| Gear interested | Makin Beats Using Cubase SX3?
Hi, i Just got myself a small home studio setup(M-audio fw 1814/edirol pc50), but i have some problems making beats in cubase sx 3. Which VSTI plugins do you use or what is the Easiest Way to start producing beats? thanks in advance ![]() Greetz |

There's so many VSTi's out there to look into. Check out Battery 3 for drums. Get a decent MIDI controller and read the cubase manual. It's pretty straight forward where to go from there. |

Do you mean I should buy a drumcomputer or should the roland edirol pc-50 do? Just to make sure |

first thing would be to get a vst sampler you can run inside cubase.. battery 3 would work, or halion or kontakt, whatever works for you. there's some free ones around like "highlife".. just search the KVR site for it.

i've got halion kontakt2 etc. but the drumsounds that came with it are kind of lame. but i guess that's why you use battery? i guess i'll have to look for some samples i think ![]() thanks anyway |

there's not much to it. if you can analyze and deconstruct hip hop tracks into their constituent parts, i.e., drums, bass, melodic samples, etc., you can start emulating how other producers tracks are put together. what you need to do is learn how to use your sampler of choice (read the manual, search for and find resources online for things you don't understand yet). learn how to use an audio editor to edit your potential samples (again, more manual reading..), then it's just a matter of sample digging--finding interesting things to sample from vinyl, cd, whatever you can get your hands on. editing the snippets of audio you want to use and dropping them into your sampler. it's always just trial and error; trying out different things, trying to make them work.
