Dont listen to what anyone says when it comes to these stupid convertors tests. The ONLY way is test them yourself.

The big difference is the quality of the mic pres. The Ensemble's are significantly better IMHO.

doesn't the mpc4000 have digital outputs? if yes you could probably use any soundcard with digital in without any loss of quality...

If the IB-4ADT also supports toslink (spdif optical), you should be able to connect this directly to the optical in of the Mac Pro. If not, you'd need the IB-4D plus a coaxial to optical converter. You would not need an additional soundcard in either case.

The advantage of staying digital is that the signal is transmitted exactly the way it is inside the MPC.

is interessant,..but i cannot yet connect the ib-4adt to the fireface, this card have in/out adat,...doesn't work? at this moment i don't use the converter of the fireface,..right??
yes i can connect directly in my g5 but is better for me utilise an audiocard....

because the ib-4adt i don't think support spdif optical....

you can use it with a fireface, too, but why buy an extra card if you can do without it? I would think of this as a waste of money.

yes is true but with this card i have another 8 analog in and important for my 8 out,...

for you this is the best way to keep the sound like this in the mpc?

sorry, I don't know why I assumed you only wanted to use two channels. If you want to use more you are fine with the adat card (=8 channels) and the Fireface. Then again the converters of the fireface are supposed to be decent, so if you already have the analog output extension you might want to try if the sound pleases you instead of buying the adat expansion too. I was just thinking of the cheapest option assuming you only had the mac pro and an unexpanded mpc4000.

yes, i can try to test the converters of the rme but i think is the best solutions an adat card,...the sound i think remains the same 100%,...i think
one day if a want make mpc -- pre such avalon - rme .. i can use the main out of the mpc eventually....for don't buy the card with 8 analog out ...

i hope the rme offer great da and ad converters, for use some outboard in the mix eventually....
