How to make the beats?

Hello all! I'm beginner in music production(hip-hop) and I want to do some simple hip-hop beats for the first time. But the problem is: How can I do that? I have cubase softaware with Edirol Hyper Canvas. Can you help me with something please? I need help. Thanks. Peace (Sorry for my English)

go to youtube and type in "cubase beat"

watch all those. then when you sit there and go "hmm....wonder how they did that thing?" you go to the manual and read about it.

good luck.

So you wanna make beats

So you wanna make beats? well I guess I would be the right person to ask.
You say you have a computer with recording software called cubase made by stienberg. You have a soft synth called hyper canvas which you must use as a plugin
with cubase. So, in technical terms you have a seqencer and you have a sample engine that will allow you to play sounds or instruments.
You will need a MIDI interface to connect a keyboard or external sampler.
Assuming you do not have a keyboard, you will need to "draw" the notes into a MIDI track in Cubase. You will need to setup the routing so that the MIDI channel will trigger the Synth off of an audio tracks insert plug in. MIDI is a multichannel format
so you may have up to 16 MIDI channels to 16 different outputs, I,E.. other plugins,
hardware synth, sequencers, ext, ext.
Look man honestly, you wasting your time with Cubase. get a hardware sampler and
standalone hardware synth or whatever that you can trigger and sequence sounds with. Then worry about recording it. Since you are new to the game you should get you chops up before you start selling CD's,.. right. My advice is to get a drum machine and lock yourself up for a couple months or however long it takes to get that sound thats in your head dude.
My gear list.........
MPC2000XL(with SMPTE)but not the 8 output expander
Oxygen 8 MIDI controller
Mac G4 Power Book 1.3G 512MEGS
MOTU 828MKII Firewire Audio-MIDI interface.
Denon Turntables with a Vestax pro mixer
Auroura Audio GTQIImark3 Mic Pre and DI
Reason 3.0
Pro-tools LE MBOX
Peak LE
tons of old records

There is NO way anyone can teach you how to make beats on a message board. Learn your equipment/software, learn about the music you want to create, out some soul and heart into it. Maybe you can find someone in your area to teach you, but this is NOT the place.

It's kind of like asking someone how to drive on the internet.
