What synth is Battlecat playing here?

I'm really curious what keyboard it is pictured in the background on his myspace... You can scroll a bit down on the site for a better view

One of the most slept-on producers in the biz also, IMO

Good article about 'Cat in Scratch magazine...

He has a virtual encyclopedia of classic funk/R&B grooves playing in his brain, and is a master of interpolating them over top of those funky basslines and those famous handclaps.

He loves anything cutting-edge gear wise, but keeps the old reliables within reach: MPC 3000 and Minimoog.

Very much hands-on at mixdown as well.

Skills, y'all!

Well...that depends on who the engineer is.

I recorded and mixed (and produced the vocals with The Dramatics) that song "Ballin'" on his page. Nobody touches anything on my session except me.

Battlecat is a musical genius.

I like to collaborate with other talented people. I feel there is always the potential for my best work to be enhanced by a fresh or differing perspective.
I can say that I learned a lot from 'Cat and countless other producers who I have allowed to touch the console and get involved in the mix of their creation. To each his own, though.

One neat trick I have "heard about" is to disconnect the VCA's while a producer does his "level rides". Shame on whoever invented those pesky motorized faders!

I've probably engineered 100 or so songs for BC. He's not gonna touch the board if he knows you and trusts your skills.

1993 or so... "I Get Around" remix is when I started with him.
There was mutual trust and respect.
He enjoyed tweaking the mix I had set up, as i enjoyed watching him work.
I think his touch added a lot to what I had done!
He also worked a lot with Rob Chiarelli then in a similar fashion.
Cat doesn't even do his own drops anymore?

BTW, did you do Cali Iz Active? They were KILLING it on the radio in LA a few months ago, and still are from what I hear!!!
How about the Eastsidaz stuff?
