Lead melody the same as bass melody

You think it clashes too much ? Lets say the lead was a high frequency sound ? If both melodies are the same midi files just different octaves you think they usually clash badly you think its a better idea if the bass is different from the lead.

Mozart and Shostakovitch were known to write dominating unisons, Bach, Haydn and Wagner avoided them like the plague.

It is all about implementation. I guearantee there are many ways to do what you want and do it well. Just as surely there are millions of ways to do it poorly.

You need to study the entire musical reportoire (past and present) and it will be clearer to you what works and what does not work.

Learn counterpoint, and general voiceleading.
