Q for Chris & the Public Record production team - project logistics!

Wow!

This seems like a big project!

The Public Record

What is your working week like?

Wake up - listen to 10,000 guitar takes - go insane - then time for lunch?

Take us through it.. tell us what the logistics are like for The Public Record!

We spent a few months prior to the launch in the studio preparing a lot of the songs and getting the stems ready for upload. Each week a new song is released for download and upload. Basically, the audio files come to me and I go through each one, importing it into ProTools, making sure it's lined up properly and then Scott and Tommy listen to each and every audio file making notes on which ones the like, etc. So far we've received some really great stuff and anticipate using between 20-30 submission on the final mix for the first song we did, and probably 10-20 on the second. We've been trying to document of much of the process on video and provide as much fresh content to the users and audience as possible... really make this truly interactive! Once we've decided on which parts we're going to use, we'll fill in any of the blanks (record additional parts ourselves) and get on to the final mix. It's been a really great experience so far and we're really hoping this concept of making records catches on with future artists!
