Tommy Lee

At 17 Thomas Lee Bass (aka Tommy Lee) teamed with bassist Nikki Sixx, guitarist Mick Mars and singer Vince Neil, naming themselves Mötley Crüe. The band recorded their first album, Too Fast for Love, released in November 1981 on their own Leathür Records. Picked up by Elektra, the Crüe released a string of classic albums in the ‘80s, beginning with Shout at the Devil (1983) and Theatre Of Pain (1985). However, Girls, Girls, Girls (1987) was as rock ‘n’ roll as anything they’d done before and, together with 1989’s enormous Dr. Feelgood, catapulted the band into the mainstream. By the 1990s Mötley Crüe was a full-blown stadium act.

In 2004 Lee reunited with his band mates to launch Red, White & Crüe, a compilation of the band’s greatest hits. The band once again hit the road on the The Red, White & Crüe Tour 2005: Better Live Than Dead. The following 2005-06 Carnival of Sins tour, which included more than 100 arena dates in the U.S., was ranked by Pollstar among Top Five-grossing tours of 2005 and drew record crowds around the world.

Lee’s 2005 solo album, Tommyland: The Ride, offered a collection of rock-driven tunes which followed two distinctly different solo efforts: Methods of Mayhem (1999), and Never A Dull Moment (2002). The same year Lee produced and starred in the fish-out-of-water NBC reality show Tommy Lee Goes to College. In 2006, Tommy joined CBS’s reality challenge Rock Star, in which Tommy, Jason Newsted (Metallica), Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses) and millions of viewers elected unknown Lukas Rossi to front the band Rock Star Supernova.

Lee recorded a new album, Saints of Los Angeles, with Mötley Crüe in 2008 and toured on Crüefest, which will be followed by Crüfest 2. Lee is currently working on his third solo album with an expected release date in 2010.
