monitoring volume / riding faders / flanged cymbals

1.) do you listen loudly or quietly when you are mixing? or a mixture?

2.) do you do a lot of volume rides on individual tracks, to bring out different things at different times? or do you often get a static balance that feels good and print it? or does that depend on the feel you are going for on a particular project?

3.) what kind of funky flanging-type sound do you use on SV's nine objects record so much? an example might be the chorus of "headshots". is that just compression releasing or is it something modulating?

thanks, you are the master. in the words of Borat, "res-peckt"

1. All levels, but mostly moderate.75-85 db.

2. I start with a static mix then move on to rides.

3. Most likely my grey 1970s(?) MXR flanger stomp box.
Softly sung, mucho compression.
