Cool Paul Simon, and more

Hi Tchad,

Your work with The Bad Plus blows me away. That trio with your style of mixing is unbelievable. Great job.

When I heard the drum sound on Paul Simon's Father and Daughter, I knew right away you had a hand in it. I confirmed that when I saw your name in the credits along with some nobodies Herbie, Eno, and Gadd

'Everything About it is a Love Song' is musically and sonically great. There's so much depth there. Are there any highlights you want to mention when you were mixing (tracking too?) that record? With all those great guys? That can be quite an ordeal mixing drums loops with real drums, synth bass with real bass, a ton of atmospheric elements with crisp guitars, etc.

Also, Page from Phish (one of my favorite bands) just released a new album with the same tape-wind start up that you did on 'Nothing' off Undermind. Did you think of that in Realworld? Does someone physically slow down the reel with their hand when you're recording the 2 mix back into PT?

I could go on forever, but I'll resist my questions until I write a masterpiece of an album and force my label to pay you one beeeellion dollars to produce, record, and mix it.

Thanks for your time - one last comment, I think a great combo would be you behind the desk of Midlake. Your mixing style and their songs would really work.

Thanks again,

Paul Simon- the tracks were presented to me in a very well laid out form (THX to Andy, PS's engineer). A lot of great material to choose from (or mute).
No problems at all mixing elements, all very well played and arranged.
Highlights- the man, Paul Simon. I was never a very big fan of the solo stuff, but 180'd since meeting and working with him. His lyrics blow me away. He's heavy, make no mistake.

Don't remember the tape sound.
