My question is a simple one really , when using various pre amp & ....

compressor saturation techniques for texture in recording I find that I'm ...

getting a real " flattening " of the dynamics of the players parts .

I'm wondering how you go about getting those great textures ...

with out flattening the performances so much as to be detrimental ?

I only use , well usually only, additive distortion. Original signal is still there. Maybe thats' it.
