One of my favourite records and IMHO soniccally one of the most compelling ones. Could you share some of the recording / mixing process? I'm particularly interested in how you got that huge bass. What was the record/mix chain on Tony Levin's bass? Any automation on the bass in the mix? Thanks for doing this! Greetings from the Netherlands, Dirk

lots of sony oxford EQ. I believe the strings for Signal To Noise where recorded, played through the monitors and recorded back into pro tools with the neumann binaural head. Distortion on Darkness (vocals) is the lexicon jamman |

that record is ridiculous. songwriting, performance, lyrics, production, everything. One of my favorite moments is in "more than this" in the chorus, when the guitar comes in and then the piano. I wish I had a concrete question to ask about it... but I don't know where to start.... off to listen to that album... |

Tchad, What lead you to do the "tape scratching" on (I think it was) Growing Up? Were you overdubbing it live to the track or did you fly them around a lot? Thanks for answering all these questions! Dan |
