Fools Gold Drum Loop

Can you tell us anything about the drum loop in Fools Gold?

The drum loop on Fools Gold was found by John and Ian from a breakbeat record of loops they had. I dont know what its called or where it comes from. The original demo of Fools Gold had John playing the guitar line and Ian singing all the final lyrics over this drum loop so thats how it was used. It plays through the whole song although the drums are overdubbed playing almost same pattern to fatten it and in the mix its taken in and out to add variation. The same loop is used on What World Waiting For and One Love.

The loop (commonly known as the 'Hot Pants' break) is originally from - The JB's/Bobby Byrd - "Hot Pants (I'm Coming, I'm Coming, I'm Coming) (Bonus Beats)"

It's a REALLY well known and used break. Used as much as The Amen break and Funky Drummer break.

'Fools Gold' sounds like it has a couple of extra layers over the top of it which has already been confirmed by John above.
